Description
Well guys, here we have my rendition of an ultra-boujified oil filter cap, compatible with Gen1/2 generations of 3.0 TDI, and machined from a solid piece of aluminum.
Includes:
- a new Viton o-ring (marginally better than stock, but thats just cause i couldn’t buy stock material in low quantities)
- An aftermarket bypass valve (you can also pull your stock one off your oil filter cap and install it, its easy!)
I gotta be honest. This is a totally original idea i came up with myself.
I actually lost both of my 32mm oil filter sockets recently. No idea where tf they went. Ive been using a crescent wrench to change the oil filter cause i can’t bring myself to order more. One of them was a Koken socket too :(.
So i had the bold idea to machine a 3/8″ Square drive in there so you can just use your ratchet without bothering to find your sockets.
I have chosen to ignore the fact that Toyota Rav4 owners have this feature standard by the millions. That way, i can pretend I’m really cool and clever for thinking of that XD
Compatible with both genuine and aftermarket oil filter housings. (On Gen2 cars, the Gen/Aftermarket female threads are surprisingly different)
And works really nice with the new cast-aluminum aftermarket oil filter housings.
No one really needs this, but it sure does look cool AF.
Truthfully I started working on it after i saw GPS’s announcement post on facebook because I am a little insecure and its not healthy. But that was like… a year ago. Time flies when you’re doing whatever I be doing.
I surmised i could make a slightly better version but, in my usual fashion, produce it locally due to patriotism or whatever.
Who even cares anymore honestly in 2026. nothing matters.
Anyways after i purchased the material I lost 99% of my patriotism and wished i didn’t buy it. Cause i was like yeah i dont wanna make these. But at that point it was too late. I believe they call this the “sunk cost fallacy”. Its too late now.
My goodness this part is wasteful. Just look at the big ass chunk it takes and were basically throwing away 90% of the chunk to make it. Not winning any environmental awards with this one are we.
